Holiday Events: Movies, Visit from Santa Claus

Happenings in Ramapo kick off on Saturday.

While visiting the big New York City Christmas tree is a holiday tradition for many, there's lots going on in right here in Rockland County for the holidays.

Here are some of the holiday events coming up, kicking off on Saturday:

Saturday, December 8 – Town of Ramapo Christmas Spectacular at the historic Lafayette Theater in Suffern, featuring the showing of the film “It’s A Wonderful Life,” caroling, music by Lafayette’s Wurlitzer Organ, a Brass Ensemble, and a special visit from Santa Claus.  Doors open at 10:30 AM.  A limited number of tickets are still available at the Lafayette Theater box office.

Wednesday, December 12 – Jewish Life Night at Ramapo Town Hall.  A celebration of Jewish Heritage featuring music, refreshments and special presentations.  The festivities begin at 7 PM, admission is free

Sunday, December 16 – A Special Christmas Film Presentation – “Restless Heart:  The Confessions of Saint Augustine” at the Lafayette Theater, 1 – 3 PM, sponsored by The Sister Servants of Mary Immaculate, Sloatsburg, The Town of Ramapo Supervisor Christopher P. St. Lawrence and Nelson Page, CEO of Majestic Star Entertainment. For information call (845) 753-2555.  Admission is free.

Thursday, December 20 – Santa Claus visits Ramapo Town Hall at 8:00 PM.  Come see him in person or watch him on Cable TV – Verizon Fios channel 32, Cablevision channels 75, 77 or 78 or phone in and speak with Santa – Special Guests:  The Bossy Frog Band
