Obituary: Michael P. Campbell, 75

 

Michael P. Campbell—a 75-year-old who loved traditional Irish music, New York Times crossword puzzles and was a devoted Jeopardy fan—passed away peacefully Monday at the Joseph Raso Hospice Residence in Northern New City.

He was to Bridie and Garda James Campbell in County Sligo, Ireland on March 9, 1938 and came to the U.S. in 1956 when he served in the U.S. Navy for four.

Campbell, who was active during the Cuban Missile Crisis, later became a New York City Transit police officer and worked for the department for two decades. He also worked for 20 years in corporate security.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years Bridge (McLoughlin) Campbell; his son James and his wife Amanda of West Nyack; his daughter Mary and her husband Kevin of New City; his three grandsons; as well as his sisters Mary and Pearl and borther Noel.
