Preparing For Thanksgiving – What’s Open & Closed

Clarkstown schools close early on Wednesday, government offices, including the FEMA Disaster Recovery Center, remain open the whole day and close Thursday and Friday

 

Here is a summary of what is open and what is closed during the next three days.  

The Clarkstown Central School District closes schools early on Wednesday and all day Thursday and Friday.  Early dismissal on Wednesday begins at 10 a.m. for Clarkstown North and South high school students. At 10:30a.m., students attending Congers, Laurel Plains, Link, New City and Strawtown elementary schools and the Birchwood School will be dismissed. A half hour later at 11 a.m., Bardonia, Lakewood, Little Tor, West Nyack and Woodglen elementary schools will be let out.  Felix Festa Middle School students will be dismissed at 11:35 a.m.

The New City Library closes at 5 p.m. on Wednesday and is closed Thursday. It reopens at its regular time of 11 a.m. on Friday.

Rockland County government offices are closed on Thanksgiving Day and open for regular hours on Friday. The FEMA Disaster Recovery Center at Provident Bank Park in Pomona will be closed Thursday and Friday.  It will reopen on Saturday from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.

Clarkstown Town Hall will be closed Thursday and Friday. There will not be any garbage or recycling collection in the town or any Mini Trans service on Thursday.  Both services will resume on Friday.

Clarkstown Highway Department crews will not work on Thanksgiving, however, on Friday they will return to collecting yard waste and debris from Hurricane Sandy and continue working through the weekend.  

Public transportation services will operate on revised schedules during the Thanksgiving holiday.
