The Salvation Army, which has been kept busy in Rockland County providing meals and other relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, is set to kick off its 2012 holiday Red Kettle Drive fundraising effort.
The Salvation Army Rockland County Corps Holidays Red Kettle Drive starts on Tuesday, at 11:30 a.m. with an event at the Palisades Center mall in West Nyack.
Philip A. Lloyd, Major County Coordinator, will host the event on the first floor of the mall near the Santa display. The Salvation Army brass ensemble will be on hand to play holiday music.
From Tuesday until Christmas Eve, The Salvation Army will have red kettles in 18 locations throughout Rockland County.
The Eastern Territory Headquarters of The Salvation Army is located in West Nyack and has been coordinating all Salvation Army relief efforts in the New York/New Jersey region.
