County Executive Candidate Day Hopeful For Voter Support

Rockland County Executive candidate Ed Day arrived at the polls at St. Augustine’s School in New City around 10 a.m. with his wife Jean and son Christopher, who is his campaign manager.  They thanked the poll workers and greeted well-wishers.

After voting, Day said “In this particular case it feels very good to be here on Election Day because today I’m very hopeful the people will hear our message about independent governance about making serious change and bringing someone to office who can actually do those things. And I’m hopeful for my community that they’ll allow me to do that.”

Day, who is running on the Republican and Preserve Rockland lines, said people pay a lot of attention locally and are very attuned to the issues.

“Our outreach is to all people all parties, ethnicities, religious backgrounds,” he said. “That’s the only way we’re going to move forward in this county. We need to work together. We’re in a crisis.”

Day said they would spend the rest of the day going to various polling places saying hello to inspectors and polls workers, bringing lunch and dinner and acknowledging the campaign’s volunteers. He said volunteers have been doing a lot in the campaign about 15 were at the phone bank Monday night making calls.
