"AKA Doc Pomus"--JCC Cultural Arts Festival

Featuring the late Lou Reed, AKA Doc Pomus explores how the Jewish, Brooklyn-born Jerome Felder, afflicted with polio from 6 years old and in a wheelchair throughout the rest of his life, reinvented himself, first as blues shouter, then as one of the most prolific songwriters of the early rock and roll era. With a lifetime of writing a thousand songs you probably know - from This Magic Moment and Save the Last Dance For Meto most of the songs in Elvis' movies like Viva Las Vegas! You'll be tapping your feet and singing along through this wonderful documentary. 

The Film has received GREAT REVIEWS from all over the country, and won the grand prize at the Stony Brook Film Festival, the first time a documentary was awarded that honor.

Featured Guest Speaker: Peter Miller, Director

Peter Miller is an award-winning documentary maker. His previous films include JEWS AND BASEBALL: AN AMERICAN LOVE STORY, released theatrically in 2010; A CLASS APART, for PBS AMERICAN EXPERIENCE; SACCO AND VANZETTI, released in theaters in 2007; and THE INTERNATIONALE, short-listed for an Academy Award nomination. He has been a producer on numerous documentaries by Ken Burns and Lynn Novick, including the THE WAR and JAZZ, as well as the Peabody Award-winning FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT.
