Characters: (mentally
challenged and lovable.)



ARNOLD:          African-American, nervous, hyperactive, compulsive
talker. Ring leader of the group.



LUCIEN:           Severely
challenged African-American, mind of 4 yr old, carries books, imagines he



                          can read. Has a wonderfully warm &
touching manner.



BARRY:            (Late 20’s - 40) Brilliant schizophrenic, devastated
by his brutal father, gets highly



                          agitated over small things. Thinks he’s golf
pro.



NORMAN:         Heavy
set. Works in a doughnut shop & can’t resist the pastry. Very



                        possessive of his bundle of keys. Likes
Sheila, makes a “date” with her.



SHEILA:           Overweight. Speaks poorly. Likes Norman & wants his keys.



CLARA:            Severely challenged. Eats popcorn & speaks only one
word, “no.”



 



The People in their lives



JACK:              Caring social
worker, in charge of men. On verge of career “burn out”.



MR HEDGES:   Neighbor who takes a frustrating golf lesson from
Barry.



MR CORBIN:    Mild mannered theater manager where Arnold works.



SENATOR CLARK:
A dignified, middle aged man.



MR KLEMPER: (50 - 70’s) Barry’s alcoholic, one armed, father.
Coarse, cruel & very abusive.



MRS FREMUS: Elderly neighbor, deaf widow. Kindly, lets Barry talk
as she knits.



MRS WARREN:
cheerful, kind neighbor. Looking for her son’s escaped hamster.

(outside rear entrance), Nyack, NY 10960 Located on the corner of Main and Franklin
Streets behind the Franklin
Antique Center.
See driveway of Chinese restaurant.  Walk
to the back of that driveway, glass door at back of the building. Please DO NOT
park in the lot adjacent to studios. That is private parking. Plenty of metered
parking on Main and Franklin Streets
