Nyack Village Theatre presents Chinese Coffee starring
John Mirabella and Kevin Cannon
Synopsis: New York 1982. It's 1:30 in the morning on a
freezing February night. Struggling novelist Harry Levine comes furiously at
the door of his best friend, photographer Jake Manheim's Greenwich
Village apartment. Harry has all of a dollar and a half in his
pocket and Jake owes him a substantial amount of money. Jake has even less
money on hand, but what is worse he has not, he declares read the manuscript of
Harry's latest novel... a work on which Harry's last hope is pitched. Or has
he? Relentlessley, obsessively the desperate Harry probes the sardonic
world-weary Jake until the truth is finally revealed. A tragic comedy that explores
the nature of friendship. Chinese coffee is a perfect blend, heightened by
vibrant and vivid language, of two guys slugging it out in a mixture of
disclose and recriminations.

About our actors: John Mirabella is
from the Bronx New York, he graduated Pace University.
John is a former Rockland
County resident who is a
published writer, director and filmmaker. He has had various small and
supporting roles in film and TV including Law and Order and Person of Interest.
John has also directed one of the Shakespeare sonnets in 2013 is currently
working on a documentary about comedians who do impressions.
Kevin Cannon has
been performing in plays for many years. Recently appearing in the Antrim
Playhouse production of “Dividing the Estate”.
His piece “Manologues” in which he wrote, produced, directed and
performed was presented at the Elmwood and at various off-off- Broadway
Theaters in NY City. His one-act Play
“The Cardinal” was produced at the Depot Theater in Garrison, and again to
raves at the Manhattan Repertory Theater. Kevin lives in West
Nyack with his partner and muse, Anna, where he continues to
write. He is a founding member of Advocate Services for Senior Health
Insurance.
