Starting in January 2013, Rockland Independent Living Center will begin hosting monthly chapter meetings of the National Federation for the Blind (NFB) at RILC offices
in New City.
The meetings are held every second Saturday of the month. According to NFB Chapter President Edwin
White, the purpose of the meetings will be to provide education about legislation and other efforts to promote improved services and increased sensitivity to people who are blind or who have visual impairments. In addition, it is hoped that the participants in this group will participate in some levels of advocacy in affecting positive change in Rockland County, as well as working as a collective to disseminate information discussed at the meetings in their
The first NFB meeting for 2013 will be held on Saturday, January 12th from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Participants are
