On Thursday, February 21, 2013, from 4:00 PM-9:00 PM, United Hospice of Rockland’s (UHR) North Rockland Chapter of Youth for Hospice (YFH) will hold a fundraiser to benefit United Hospice of Rockland in memory of lifelong North Rockland native, Carol A. Pileggi, at Lynch's Restaurant, 79 S. Liberty Drive in Stony Point.
15% of all dinners (eat-in or take-out) will be donated in Carol’s honor to United Hospice of Rockland. The North Rockland YFH members say that Carol Pileggi was known for her timeless smile and her caring ways. Youth for Hospice was founded in 2008 ago by twelve sophomores at Clarkstown North High School in New City. The legacy they left behind continues to grow and the current membership of Youth For Hospice is comprised of boys and girls, freshmen to seniors, and has expanded to include students from several area high schools. There are currently three satellite groups of students. Tappan Zee High School and Nyack High School were formed in Fall 2011, North Rockland High School in Fall 2012.
Local high school students are invited to join YFH by signing on to the Youth for Hospice Facebook page or by coming to the next meeting at United Hospice of Rockland, 11 Stokum Lane (off South Main Street) in New City.
For more information about forming additional YFH satellite groups or becoming a YFH member, please contact. Lisa Denburg, UHR Assistant Director of Development, 845 634-4974, email@example.com.
Members of YFH, who receive community service hours for meetings and events, assist at many of United Hospice of Rockland’s ongoing programs and events, including Hugs for Hospice, the Annual Walkathon, Trees of Life, Spring Gala, Africa Hospice Project and blood drives. Some members volunteer in the office as well. The fifth annual Dance-A-Thon raised a record $18,000 to benefit United Hospice of Rockland. Overall, YFH raised more than $20,000 in 2012 through Dance-a-thon, Cut-a-thon and rubber bracelet sales.
