This presentation will address the traps & pitfalls that await lay people trying to help an addicted person:

  • enabling behavior, manipulation and deceit
  • learn the realities that guide both treatment professionals and other trying to help an addicted person
  • how to make effective referrals & work with treatment staff
  • understand addiction as a chronic illness with acute phases of using and abstinence
  • learn what finally motivates patients to enter into long term recovery
