NEW CITY — Rockland County lawmakers voted Wednesday night to award a $70 million bus contract to Brega Transport. Scott Vanderhoef said he would have no choice but to veto the resolution. There is presently a court case in the Appellate Court in New York City.
The legislature had 14 votes in favor of awarding the contract to Brega, and a Putnam County Judge agreed with Brega's contention that the bid specifications made it difficult for small and medium sized companies to win the contract.

Even though it is very unlikely, the FTA has the right to withold millions of dollars in funding if the contract is not awarded soon.
As of today, Coach USA is still operating Rockland Transportation. A case is still pending in Westchester Supreme Court. An appeal from the County is in process to The Appellate Court in New York City. No end in sight, the Legislature will have to approve another 3 month extention, and the FTA is being very quiet.... Happy New Year to all!
Well I was almost right, the Legislature voted to extend the contract for TOR and TZXpress for one month, to November 2, instead of the usual three month extention as in the past. Wishful thinking, with the county's appeal due by November 6th, and then waiting for a decision that usually takes a month. More to come for sure....
