Another child forgotten on a school bus. If you Google that phrase, you will find many instances of drivers and bus monitors forgetting to check their buses at the end of the days routes. It is a huge problem, but an easily solved one. There are inexpensive systems that can be installed on school buses that force the driver or monitor to walk to the back of the bus, push a button and then leave the bus. If the button is NOT pushed the horns and lights will activate forcing the driver to get back on the bus, walk down the aisle and push the button.
The County has awarded a preschool transportation contract to a company that had an incident recently of forgetting a child on their bus. This after a refresher course on child safety, obviously not enough. The County should require the carrier to install the system in the video or something similar, a repeat of a child forgotten cannot happen, ever......they were lucky this time, but a lawsuit, which is likely, will be expensive for the carrier and possibly the County....
