2011 Environmental Corps Presentation of Summer Projects
Rockland County AmeriCorps, a program of the Rockland County Youth Bureau, will celebrate the accomplishments of the 2011 Environmental Corps from 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. on Thursday, August 18th at the Ellipse at Rockland Community College.
Thirty-three AmeriCorps Members will be featuring presentations that summarize their environmental projects and achievements accomplished at 15 site placements throughout Rockland County.
Projects have included, among many others:

- the maintenance and construction of walking and hiking trails at Bear Mountain and within County Parks
- neighborhood beautification in the Village of Haverstraw
- recycling initiatives and outreach with the Rockland County Solid Waste Management Authority
- Hudson River Fish Advisory with Cornell Cooperative Extension
Presentations involve demonstrations, videos and other creative projects that highlight AmeriCorps summer of service to Rockland.
Presentations will begin at 3 p.m. and pause at 4 p.m. to feature guest speakers. Presentations will resume at the conclusion of the guest speakers and continue until 5 p.m.

Following the Rockland AmeriCorps Final Project presentation, a Free Home Energy Workshop will begin where homeowners can learn how to save on their utility bills, techniques to conserve energy in the home and sign up for a free home energy audit.
Both events are open to the public, though prior registration is encouraged for the Home Energy Workshop.
