Car Show Benefits COPS Barn horse therapy program

The Children of Promise Stable and the Clarkstown Policemen's Benevolent Association are hosting a fundraising "Hot Rods for Horse Power Car Show" to benefit the stable on Sunday, June 13 at the Palisades Center mall in West Nyack.

Children of Promise Stable Inc. in Nanuet,  commonly known as the COPS Barn, is a not-for-profit 501(C)(3) tax-exempt corporation, that provides professional equine assisted activities and therapies for both children and adults with special needs through a diversified equestrian riding program.

Founded in 2001 by a group of Clarkstown police officers, the COPS Barn nurtures the mind, body and spirit through horses. COPS Barn president Tim O'Neill said the organization has a first-class facility designed to foster positive emotional growth, independence and improve the physical and social well being of participants.

"We want to change and enrich lives of special needs individuals by promoting excellence in equine assisted activities," O'Neill said. "We look to encourage an 'I can do it' attitude for those who have been previously limited in their abilities."

O'Neill said of all donations collected through the car show go directly to the COPS Barn program, which is currently seeking sponsors for the event.
