Rockland County Executive C. Scott Vanderhoef has declared Friday, July 29 as Disability Awareness Day in Rockland County. The Rockland Independent Living Center will celebrate the 21st anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act with an Awards Ceremony from 2 to 4 p.m.
Those being honored include:
- County Legislator Robert Jackson for introducing the Silver Alert program
- Julie Cardone for helping people with disabilities access services
- Candace Everett for mentoring others with disabilities
- Charles Cohn for his achievements in gaining greater independence
