Rockland Independent Living Center will celebrate the publication of Dan and Marjorie Windheim’s new book with a reception and book signing on Thursday, May 10th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the RILC offices in New City.
Dan Windheim is a native New Yorker who attended Nyack High School. In 1979, in the midst of his high school years, Dan was in a car accident and sustained a brain stem injury. But this did not deter him. He went on to graduate high school in 1981, and to later receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from St. Thomas Aquinas College in Sparkill.
Copies of Opening the Door to a Brighter Future:
Top Ten Keys to Help You Get There will be available for purchase ($16.95) at the reception. Mr. Windheim and his mother Marjorie have worked together to write this book that combines information about the challenges of living with a brain injury, practical strategies for living successfully, and inspiring stories from seven other people who have used the strategies to deal successfully with their own varying disabilities.
