Rotary Club Honors Principal, Ex-Police Chief, Business and Fire Department

The West Nyack Rotary Club is honoring a school principal, an ex-police chief, a fire department and the owners of a restaurant for their work in the community at a Wednesday, May 11 event.

The 7 p.m. Rotary celebration at the West Nyack Fire Department firehouse on Strawtown Road also includes the awarding of Rotary scholarships for 2011.

Being honored at the event are:

— Art Jakubowitz, principal of the Clarkstown school district's Birchwood School in West Nyack. Jakubowitz is retiring from the district this year.

— Peter Noonan of Nanuet, recently retired Clarkstown police chief.

— The West Nyack Fire Department, which recently celebrated its 100th anniversary.

— The Clarksville Inn in West Nyack and proprietors Joe McCarney, Jerry Reilly and Joe Szymanski.
