WATER CONFERENCE – SPONSORED by AARP ROCKLAND

Interested water consumers question United Water’s proposal for producing drinking water from the Hudson River.  The process called RO or desalination is expensive to build, to maintain, and consumes substantial electricity.  Therefore we wish to compare the cost to taxpayers of using alternative solutions for our future water needs.

The purpose of this conference is to compare cost benefits of the following alternatives to desalinization:

1. Control surface water runoff.

2. Phase in repairs of leaking waste water pipes and storm conduits.

3. Conservation both at home, as well as, environmental plantings to reduce runoffs.

The panel includes:

State Senator David Carlucci
