Eagle Scout Honored for Birchwood Project

Hansoo Lee completed his Eagle Scout Project at Birchwood School in June 2013 and earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest award in Scouting, in September 2013. 

Birchwood School is a public school facility of the Clarkstown Central School District. The Birchwood School is for students ages five through twenty-one, whose disabilities require a special educational setting and related services to meet their unique management, academic, physical and social needs.

Hansoo led the construction of three new park benches and refurbished three existing ones. He led the scouts of Troop 97 from New City for over 400 hours in order to complete his project. 

On Friday, May 9, Birchwood honored Hansoo with an official ribbon cutting ceremony for his project. The day was dedicated as Hansoo Lee Day at Birchwood and friends, former classmates, students and staff all celebrated the day with Hansoo.

Hansoo attended Birchwood for five years, grades 7-12. He graduated in June 2013, earning the West Nyack Rotary Club’s Service Above Self College Scholarship, and has been attending Rockland Community College.
