[UPDATED WITH CANCELLATIONS] Red, White and Boom! Where to See July 4th Fireworks in Westchester, Rockland & Hudson Valley

Editor's note: Many NY towns have changed plans for fireworks due to the weather. See updates below in BOLD. If you have updated information on other towns, please include it in the comments below. Happy 4th of July!

Independence Day festivities  taking place around Westchester and Rockland include the following:

Thursday, July 3rd

The Nanuet Fireworks [RESCHEDULED FOR JULY 9th at 8:00 p.m.] is a fun-filled night of entertainment and activities from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. There will be inflatable bouncers, Rockland County Radio Control Club Flying Demonstration at 8:00 p.m. and The Sixties Show Band, a 1960’s musical tribute show featuring former members of Billy Joel’s, Elton John’s bands and former members of  The Boston Pops.  Fireworks to follow. The events take place at Nanuet High School, 103 Church Street. 

Ossining Fireworks  Celebrations [POSTPONED UNTIL JULY 11th] begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Louis Engel Waterfront Park, 160 Westerly Road, Ossining. Pop/rock/R&B group Jigsaww starts the show. Concertgoers are encouraged to bring seating and picnics are welcome. Fireworks begin at approximately 9:15 p.m. After the fireworks, Ossining’s Silver or Lead band will keep the celebration going with a mix of rock, funk, and soul. 

Rye Holiday Fireworks Show  is July 3 & 4, 2014, 9:30 p.m. at Playland, 1 Playland Parkway, Rye. A spectacular fireworks display will be accompanied by patriotic music.  Parking is $5 on July 3 and $10 on July 4. On July 3, there is also a $15 Night Rides Admission Special from 5 p.m. until close.

In Valhalla: The annual Kensico Dam Music Fest and Fireworks will be held on Thursday, July 3, at the Kensico Dam Plaza in Valhalla. The event will feature entertainment beginning at 5 p.m., followed by a concert with great patriotic music by the Stolen Moments Band at 8 p.m., climaxed by a magnificent fireworks display at approximately 9:15 p.m. Admission and parking are free, but carpooling is strongly advised.

White Plains' display is  at 6:00 p.m. at the high school, 550 North Street, White Plains. [UPDATED - CHANGE OF LOCATION] Fireworks for tonight will be at Kensico Dam in Valhalla host Westchester County.

The Westchester Band Concert that was originally planned for Thursday, July 3, will take place at the Scarsdale High School auditorium at 8 p.m. It has not yet been anounnced if there will be a rain date for the fireworks.

Friday, July 4th

The Harrison July 4th celebration starts with The Wanderers who will play 50’s,60’s & 70’s beginning at 7:45 p.m. The fireworks start at 9:00 p.m. at the Harrison Shopping Center on Halstead Avenue.

In Katonah from 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m at the John Jay Homestead in Katonah,  the Rotary Club of Bedford-Armonk will host a spirited reading of the Declaration of Independence, live music, food, crafts, games, and plenty of other activities. Free admission to the grounds; fees apply for refreshments and some fair activities.

July 4th Spectacular - Pops, Patriots and Fireworks kicks off at 8:00 p.m. at the Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts, 149 Girdle Ridge Road, Westchester Symphonic Winds with Broadway’s Ryan Silverman will entertain spectators with an awesome fireworks display to follow.

In Larchmont games and races at Flint Park begin at 10:00 a.m. Hot dogs and watermelon for all will be served by the Larchmont Fire Department. The July 4th concert is at Manor Park, beginning at 7:00 p.m.  The Dixie Dandies will play lively music followed by fireworks over the Sound. Picnicking is not allowed in Manor Park.

Mamaroneck's Harbor Island Park Firemen's Carnival is 7 p.m. on Friday, July 4, Mamaroneck Avenue South and East Boston Post Road. The fireworks starts after at 9 p.m.

In New Rochelle, a grand fireworks display, produced by Grucci Family of Fireworks, will light up the night at the New Rochelle waterfront. Optimum viewing locations include Hudson Park, Five Islands Park, and Municipal Marina upper parking deck. The show starts at 9:30 p.m.

In NYACK: The Village of Nyack will hold its annual fireworks display on Friday, July 4th, at 9pm in Memorial Park. The spectacular display can be seen from any place in the Village where there is a clear view of the southeast sky, according to the Village of Nyack website.

Pearl River's annual fireworks starts after the 7 p.m. Pearl River Holiday Concert at the Gazebo on Central Avenue. (Rain date 7/5).  

At the Peekskill Riverfront the 4th of July Parade is from 10:00 am to 12:00 p.m. The free concert is from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. followed by fireworks at 9:00 p.m.

In Port Chester, Independence Day fireworks will take place at the Port Chester High School at dusk. Fireworks are presented by Grucci, holders of the Guinness World Record for the "Largest Fireworks Display" ever recorded. Fireworks by Grucci is a sixth-generation, family-owned and operated company, world-renowned for pyrotechnic artistry, scientific innovation and old-fashioned values.

Rye Holiday Fireworks Show  is July 3 & 4, 2014, 9:30 p.m. at Playland, 1 Playland Parkway, Rye. A spectacular fireworks display will be accompanied by patriotic music. Parking is $5 on July 3 and $10 on July 4. 

The Scarsdale July 4th Carnival Day is from 11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. at Scarsdale Pool Complex, 311 Mamaroneck Ave., Scarsdale.

In Somers, watch the fireworks from the Kohl's, DeCicco's, and Home Depot parking lots on Independent Way in Brewster. the Second Saturday Band will entertain spectators and the fireworks go off at 9:30 p.m.

In Southeast: The fireworks display in Southeast will take place July 4 (rain date July 6). The pyrotechnics start at 9:30 p.m. The fireworks committee recommends that spectators watch from the parking lots at the Highlands Shopping Center on Independent Way in Brewster or from Tilly Foster Farm on Route 312. 

Sleepy Hollow/Tarrytown fireworks begin at dusk at the bottom of Beekman Ave. They can also be seen from Kingsland Park, Devries Park and Barnhart Park.

Saturday July 5

The carnival that was originally scheduled for Friday, July 4 at the Scarsdale Pool Complex has been postponed until Saturday, July 5 due to the weather. The carnival and picnic will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday and will go until 4 p.m. The carnival will be held at Scarsdale Pool Complex, 311 Mamaroneck Ave., Scarsdale, NY.

Saturday July 12

The fireworks at Cross County Shopping Center’s Summer Fest has been rescheduled for Saturday, July 12. On that day at 6:00 p.m. There will be strolling entertainers, face painters and balloon artists. At 7:00 p.m. a swing band performs and at 9:30 p.m. fireworks will light up the night.

The fun takes place at the Cross County Shopping Center, 8000 Mall Walk, and Yonkers, NY. The event will take place on The Green, in the center of the mall near Victoria’s Secret.
