Small Business Saturday is more than just a slogan for local shops in downtown New City.
Local business owners are hoping residents will skip the big malls for a day on this day after Black Friday and spend some time in the smal shops that make up downtowns, such as New City.
At The Things I Love in New City, Sandra Szpicek-Leylegian and Paula Harris-Polk say they have been spreading the word about Small Business Saturday. They believe that for New City, Small Business Saturday is also a chance for shoppers who have not been to New City recently to see how the downtown has been changed by Clarkstown's revitalization project.
The Things I Love, one of many small businesses in downtown New City, is located at 191 S. Main St. The shop features many artistic and fashionable items for the home and gift-giving.
