Toasting To 2012: Champagne Tips

Local liquor stores recommend their best basic and better quality champagnes, all under $50, to ring in the New Year.

Big Daddy’s in Rockland

, at 174 South Main Street in New City recommends Korbel as the perfect basic champagne that won’t put too much of a strain on your wallet. Korbel costs only $10.

Big Daddy’s highlights Chandon sparkling wine from Napa Valley as a better quality choice, for $16.99. 

Here, the customer favorite has been the Italian Sparkling Prosecco, which ranges from $8 to $15. 

 

Zachys in Scarsdale

, at 16 East Parkway in Scarsdale, suggests Louis Roederer Premier Champagne, which can cost between $34.95 and $36.99. 

They also sell the Bollinger Special Cuvee, a great champagne for around $50. 

 

Le Wine Shop in Larchmont 

Visit at 1945 Palmer Avenue in Larmont to try their best basic champagnes, a sparkling wine called Lucien Albrecht for $19.95 or Demoiselle champagne for $39.99. 

Another recommendation is a drier champagne, Couche, for $45.50.

A great champagne for under $50 is their Taittinger champagne for $49.95. 

Le Wine Shop tries to offer more unique liquor options. Among customers, the most popular is the Deutz for $34.95.

 

Sound Shore Liquor Pantry in Mamaroneck 

Another inexpensive basic choice is the Mionetto Prosecco, available at the at 800 East Boston Port Road in Mamaroneck. This Italian sparkling wine costs $14.99.

Sound Shore Liquor Pantry recommends the Roederer Estate L’Ermitage 2003 Vintage wine for $39.99 as a better quality option. 

 

Port Chester Wine and Liquor 

Stop by for this wine and liquor store which recommends either a sparkling wine from New Mexico, Gruet, for $13.99 or Marqui De la Tour champagne for $8.99 as less expensive basic drinks.

Montaubret is a better quality champagne that is not too pricey. A bottle will run you $29.99.
