2013-14 Promises to be a Productive School Year!

The 2013-14 school year promises to be one of excitement, new learning opportunities, and reflect the changes that are taking place in education nationwide. Over the course of the summer, our teachers participated in dozens of professional development opportunities, refining existing skills and learning new ones to challenge and engage our learners.

This school year also brings a new technology to every corner of our district. Yesterday, September 9, 2013 the district's ubiquitous wireless access was unveiled.  All instructional areas now have rock solid, robust, enterprise level wireless access.  Partnering with leading wireless providers, the district's priority goal of wireless access for K-12 with dozens of concurrent users at any given time is being realized.  Teachers (and students) will be able to use any technology to access the internet via our wireless network.  Whether it's a district provided laptop, netbook, iPad or Chromebook, all the district's devices have unthrottled access to online resources, accessing the internet at speeds that are among the top 1% in the nation!

The wireless network has been configured to allow users--teachers, students, parents, and guests--to bring their own devices and use them to access the internt from within the district providing they have a password.  Students and teachers can take advantage of this service simply by logging on.  Guests can obtain a password from the library, the main office or a school technician, depending on the school's practice.  To ensure adequate speed to all our registered users, this Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) has bandwidth restrictions.

As our teachers continue to explore new and exciting ways to engage their students and the families of the students they serve, there is a corresponding ongoing upward spiral of skills and experiences for all learners in our community.  It's an exciting time to be in the learning industry, and here's to making this the best year yet!
