Increasing Student Engagement Via Expanded Student Access to Technology

The Clarkstown Central School District aggressively seeks ways to support student learning and engagement through the purposeful use of technology.

Our school district aggressively seeks ways to support student learning and engagement through the purposeful use of technology.  One aspect of our four year technology plan (we are currently in year one), makes wireless Dell 2120 Netbook computers available for fourth graders.  As the district continues to expand opportunities for students to improve writing skills, technology plays an essential role in this process.  One benefit of our expanding digital environment is that capability to share our students' work with an authentic audience.

Over the next few days, I will use this blog space to share biographies written by some of our fourth grade students.

The investment in time and effort of our District's volunteer technology committee members over the past five years is paying significant dividends.  This group of teachers, parents, students, Board of Education members, and administrators has worked tirelessly to support the district's four strategic goals.  The focus has been to transform learning opportunities by providing teachers and students with the best tools and professional development to collaborate and create a world class learning environment aligned to the Common Core State Standards
