What you need to know before you vote for library trustees

New City has an excellent library and staff, and a $5 million budget. For the past few years, the business of the library has been controlled by an inexperienced trustee majority with personal agendas.

The board majority has interfered in the day-to-day operation of the library – work that should be performed by library professionals.

The board majority has made poor hiring decisions, and granted too much power for discretionary spending without the required disclosure of those expenses.

The board has inadequate financial controls in place to protect the taxpayers’ money.

New City Library Watch is supporting 3 trustee candidates: Ralph Sabatini, Jeffrey Sasson, and David Zuckerberg. All 3 are dedicated, ethical, and highly qualified candidates with extensive business and finance backgrounds. They can change the direction of the library board.

·        Ralph Sabatini, a CPA, has served as a corporate Chief Financial Officer.

·        Jeffrey Sasson is currently Chief Operating Officer at Liberty Science Center.

·        David Zuckerberg, a business consultant, serves as a trustee at the Ramapo Catskill Library System, of which New City Library is a member.

Please vote for Ralph Sabatini, Jeffrey Sasson, and David Zuckerberg on Wed., Dec. 11, 9 AM – 9 PM at the New City Library.

The New City Library Watch (www.nclibrarywatch.org) was organized to inform the community about the actions of the Library Board, to support qualified trustee candidates, and to encourage the public to participate in the elections of trustees.  The overwhelming support of the public in last year’s trustee election demonstrated that the public is aware of the existing problems with the Board and wants to change its direction.  The election of 3 new trustees to be held on December 11th is the critical point at which we can elect trustees who will serve the public openly, honestly, and ethically.  We urge you to vote for these 3 highly qualified candidates who have the dedication, experience, and expertise to serve on the Library Board.
