Joan Lynch, Former New City Resident

Joan M. Lynch (nee Agugliaro, nee Piliero), 84, of River Vale, died on Tuesday, Feb. 11.

Born Nov. 14, 1929 to Nicholas and Mary Piliero in the Bronx, N.Y., Joan then moved to New City, N.Y. where she raised her three children with her husband John Agugliaro. John died in 1968.

Joan graduated from Evander Childs High School in 1947 and went on for medical technician training as a histologist. She worked as a lab technician in St. John Episcopal Hospital in the late '40s and early '50s. She then finished her career at Lederle Laboratories in Pearl River, N.Y. doing histology work.

Joan wed Ray Lynch and enjoyed 33 years of married life, most of it in River Vale.

Joan was a person who always worried more about the next person than herself. A very active, valued member at St. Andrew's Church in Westwood, she spread her glow all over.

Her latest activity was assisting in the collections during mass and cooking meals for priests, neighbors, friends and relatives when in need. She enjoyed baking as well, making over 1,200 Christmas cookies and mailing them all across the country to friends and relatives.

Joan was a devoted mother and beloved wife survived by her husband Ray and leaving behind three children of her first marriage, Joan Vaccaro and her husband Drew from Florida, John Agugliaro (predeceased), and Joseph Agugliaro and his wife Karen from Connecticut; and nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren from both Ray and Joan's sides of the family.

Joan's entombment is at the Garden of Memories in the Township of Washington.
