Theresa J. Collura, 94, Passed Away June 25

Theresa J. Collura, resident of Stamford, CT, passed away on June 25, 2014. She was 94 years old and was born in the Bronx, New York. She was the loving wife of August and they were married for over 67 years.

The remarkable thing about Theresa was her soulful qualities of loving kindness, gentleness, devotion, compassion, and resilience. She was a woman who loved and cared for her family and friends, while taking great pride in her home. She spent most of her life in the N.Y. area--the Bronx, Montgomery, Rockland County, and toward the end of her life in Stamford, CT, where she became an aficionado of opera.

Theresa was employed by Ben Franklin and Bradlees, and in her later years she became an active member of several senior citizen clubs, planning, organizing and enjoying various trips and activities. She had a great zest for life and enjoyed traveling, cooking, reading, meeting new friends and visiting new places.

She will be sorely missed by her family and friends. Theresa was predeceased by her husband, August Collura, and is survived by her three children: John, Marianne, and Vincent, and her five grandchildren.

Family will receive friends on Friday, June 27th from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Higgins Funeral Home in New City. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 28th, 10am, at St. Augustine's Church, New City, followed by entombment at Cedar Hill Mausoleum, Newburgh, NY.
