Local Foundation Partners With Habitat for Humanity-Volunteers Needed!

Congers based, Homeland Children's Foundation, has partnered with Dacotah Tipis, a local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity, to provide funding and in kind donations for the residents of the Crow Creek Sioux Reservation in Fort Thompson, South Dakota.  In 2013, HFH named Homeland Children's Foundation, Supporter of the Year, for its assistance with reservation projects, and local resident, HCF President, Pamela Thomas, of Congers, received the award in a ceremony in Sioux Falls, SD.  Now, volunteers are need to travel to the reservation.  Projects include framing and building homes for poor families with young children, cooking, serving meals to elderly shut ins, working in the community gardens, and administrative tasks.  Homeland supporters will be arriving in fort Thompson on August 15th, 2014, to enjoy the annual pow wow on the reservation, then spending the following week in service. This is a great opportunity for families with teens or college age students to experience native life while providing service in the poorest county in the U.S. For more information, send an email to homelandchildrensfoundation@gmail.com
