Teaberry Port House Demolition

Historic building being prepared for demolition on Friday

Dear Editor:

It is with great sadness and  major tears in my eyes that I am writing to you all to let you know that Teaberry Port is being demolished on Friday, Thanksgiving holiday, conveniently enough. There is a crew there now who is securing the removal of the asbestos in the house and the remaining structure will be demolished on Friday, November 23rd 2012.. A date that will go down into our history books...

United Water, the Historical Review Board and the Town of Clarkstown should all be ashamed of themselves for allowing this to happen. As you are all aware, I had said this from the beginning, United Water got exactly what they wanted, they created the parameters for the demise of this house!!!!  United Water has shown time and time again that they have total disregard for our community. United Water likes to place blame on everyone else except their own company and its policies.

I am disgusted by this whole situation and we need to as custodians of our history and our community voice our opinions on these actions, this can never happen again in our community.  I am planning on asking the Supervisor of the Town of Clarkstown to make changes to the Historic Review Board, it's apparent that they don't have the clout that is needed or support to take on situations such as this. Things need to change, OUR HISTORY, can not be allowed to be bulldozed.
