2 Men Charged in 2010 Bardonia Burglary

Safe stolen from home in March recovered at Bear Mountain.

Two Rockland County men have been arrested in connection with the burlgary of a Bardonia home in 2010 and a stolen safe has been found in the woods of Bear Mountain, according to Clarkstown police.

The arrests stem from new information in the investigation of a March 27, 2010, incident in Bardonia, where the safe, cash and other valuables were stolen in a break-in.

Clarkstown police said town detectives arrested Rember Martinez, 30, of Spring Valley, and Aldo Orellana, 36, of Nanuet after they learned of a conversation Martinez had with the victim of the burglary.

The victim told police that he and Martinez, an acquaintance, met in August and Martinez said he had opened a safe for someone, although he did not know who owned the safe. This new information, police said, led to the discovery of the safe, which had been discarded near the Bear Mountain Bridge.

The safe had been forced open.

Police said the new information led to the arrest of Martinez and Orellana, who are both being held in the Rockland County Correctional Facility in New City pending a hearing in Clarkstown Town Court.

Orellana is charged with second-degre burglary, third-degree grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property, all felonies. Martinez is charged with criminal possession of stolen property and fifth-degree conspiracy, a misdemeanor.
