A 51-year-old Valley Cottage man is accused of raping a 6-year-old Congers girl who is a member of a family with which he was a friend, according to Clarkstown police.
Police said Jovo Claudio Lopez was arrested Saturday after an investigation by Clarkstown detectives into a 4:30 p.m. report on May 11 of a possible rape. Police said the arrest has led to Lopez being indicted Wednesday on rape charges by a Rockland County grand jury in New City.
Police said Lopez was arraigned in Clarkstown Town Court in New City and ordered held in the Rockland County Correctional Facility in New City. He is accused of:
— Rape 1st degree (felony)
— Criminal Sexual Act 1st degree (felony)
— Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child 1st and 2nd degree (felony)
— Sexual Abuse 1st degree (felony)
— Predatory Sexual Assault Against A Child (felony)
— Forcible Touching of Another’s Sexual/Intimate Parts (misdemeanor).
