91-Year-Old Driver Loses Control of Car In Town Hall Parking Lot

Clarkstown resident uninjured in New City incident; car parked at Clarkstown Town Hall damaged, sign knocked down.

A 91-year-old Clarkstown woman lost control of her car in a parking lot at Clarkstown Town Hall in New City on Friday afternoon, damaging a car parked in the lot and ending up on nearby Route 304.

The woman was not injured in the accident that took place about 4:30 p.m. in the crowded upper parking lot off Maple Avenue and Demarest Avenue.

As the woman was trying to leave Town Hall, her car jumped a curb in the parking lot and hit another car in the lot. The woman made it out on to Demarest Avenue, but hit a guard rail several times and ended up on Route 304 in busy traffic.

After the accident, police were unable to find the owner of the damaged car. A note left on the windshield alerted the owner about the accident.
