Assault With A Bottle, Strangulation: Rockland Court Report

Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Zugibe recently reported the following indictments of New City, Tallman and Pomona residents. 

Cordero Jones, 24, of New City was indicted by a Rockland County Grand Jury on charges of Strangulation, Attempted Assault, Intimidating a Witness and Unlawful Imprisonment. Zugibe said Jones is accused of punching the victim several times in the face and then choking her on July 31st.  Jones allegedly prevented the victim from leaving to get medical treatment for a broken eye orbit.  Jones is accused of calling the victim on August 12th and threatening physical harm if she proceeded with charges against him.  

Adam Choniski, 29, of Tallman was indicted on an assault charge after allegedly hitting another man in the forehead with a bottle at the Polish Festival in Tappan in May. According to Zugibe, Choniski approached the unidentified victim and victim’s girlfriend on the dance floor which led to a physical alteracation.  When the victim attempted to walk away from the fight, Choniski is accused of striking him with a bottle.  The victim suffered a head laceration which needed stitches.

Wanda Jones, 47, of Pomona was indicted on November 1st on two counts of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a Child. Zugibe said on May 8th New York State Police got a report of an erratic driver on the Palisades Interstate Parkway in Stony Point. Troopers arriving at the scene allegedly found Jones sitting in her vehicle in a travel lane with two children younger than 16 in the car.
