Attempted Burglary, Criminal Possession Of A Weapon: Rockland Court Report

Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Zugibe reported recent indictments of Pearl River and Bronx residents and the sentencing of two New Hempstead and Stony Point residents. 

Justin Delgardio, 29 of Pearl River was indicted by a Rockland County Grand Jury on charges of Burglary, Attempted Burglary and Grand Larceny. Zugibe said the defendant’s DNA was allegedly found in a home in April where the homeowner found a broken window, the screen removed and damaged and $1,423 in cash missing from a desk. On May 23, Orangetown Police received a call of a suspicious male behind the house. When officers arrived, the defendant was allegedly found behind the house which had one window screen removed and two windows open.

Olvin Vargas-Ventura, 26, and Jose Baez-Cabrera, 22, both of the Bronx were indicted by a grand jury on charges of Criminal Possession of a Weapon. In the early morning of November 7, the defendants were allegedly found with a loaded 9mm handgun in their vehicle.

Michael Gordon, 29, of New Hempstead, was sentenced in Rockland County Court to a state prison term of two to four years after pleading guilty to Criminal Possession of a Weapon. Zugibe said on May 7, 2012 Gordon had in his bedroom a shotgun with a barrel shorter than 18 inches and had one shotgun shell in the same room.

William Sanchez, 23, of Stony Point, was sentenced in Rockland County Court to a state prison term of four years and two and a half years post release supervision after pleading guilty to Burglary. He will serve the sentences concurrently for two different indictments.

On November 12, 2012, Sanchez allegedly entered homes on Strawberry Hill Lane in West Nyack and Deer Run in Stony Point and stole several pieces of jewelry and U.S. Savings Bonds.  Sanchez was also accused of illegally entering a home on Hillside Drive in Stony Point on November 13, 2012 and stealing two TVs, a laptop, Wii game console and jewelry. The jewelry was found at a pawn shop.
