Brooklyn Woman Charged With Possession of 24 Fake Credit Cards

Clarkstown Police arrested Saida Martin, 22, of Brooklyn on Saturday and charged her with possession of 24 fraudulent credit cards and one count of possession of more than $5,400 of stolen property. Police report Martin was arrested at 9 p.m. after attemping to purchase an iPad at the Best Buy in the Palisades Center.  

"She presented five different credit cards as the method of payment, all of which were declined," said Sgt. Jo Anne Fratianni. "Martin left the store without a successful purchase."  

Police investigating the attempted purchase located Martin in the Apple store at the mall. A subsequent search of Martin’s vehicle allegedly found previous purchases made in New Jersey using the fake credit cards. 

"The merchandise included 2 Apple Ipads, 4 pairs of shoes, 2 sets of curtains, and 1 set of sheets," said Fratianni.  "The total for the stolen merchandise was $5,411.40." 

Martin was arraigned in Clarkstown Justice Court and charged with 24 counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument 2nd degree, a felony, and one count of criminal possession of stolen property 3rd degree, a felony.  She was sent to the Rockland County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 cash bail and is due back in court on July 10.
