Candle Causes Fire, Injures New City Resident: News Report

A New City resident whose hands and head were burned while trying to put out a fire was assisted by members of the New City Volunteer Ambulance Corps and Rockland Paramedics March 2, according to the Nyack Free Press. 

The blaze, in a mattress in an Irion Drive home, was apparently caused by a candle. 

New City Fire Department answered the call; Nanuet was on standby.

Assistant Fire Chief Dennis Rodriguez told nyackfreepress.com firefighters used hand-held extinguishers and put the fire out fast.
