Check of Suspicious Car In West Nyack Leads to 3 Burglary-Related Arrests

Clarkstown police: Laptops, jewelry were taken during burglaries in Stony Point, Haverstraw.

An investigation of a suspicious car spotted in West Nyack has led to the arrests of three New Jersey residents in connection with burglaries in Stony Point and Haverstraw, Clarkstown police said this afternoon.

Two men and a woman, ranging in age from 20 to 40, are being held in the Hudson County (NJ) Jail on fugitive from justice warrants and face extradiction to Rockland County on charges of criminal possession of stolen propertly.

The arrest of Jacob Bing, 20, Christine Bolitho, 26, and Christian Billings, 40, all of Jersey City, NJ, stem from a Clarkstown police officer spotting a car with New Jersey license plates that was driving slowly on Continental Drive in West Nyack at 2:30 p.m. on Monday. Sgt. Nicholas Lafasciano said the car matched the description of a vehicle that was in the area when a burglary was committed a week ago.

The trio were released and then drove to New Jersey. Lafasciano said an investigation by Clarkstown detectives and Haverstraw and Stony Point police found that the laptops and jewelry were stolen in two burglaries that took place on Monday in Stony Point and Haverstraw shortly before the car was stopped in West Nyack.

Bing, Bolitho and Billings were arrested Tuesday in New Jersey with assistance from detectives of the Jersey City (NJ) Police Department.

The onvestigation is continuing, Lafasciano said.

Do you seriously think that the # 1 best place to live does not have burglaries ?

I think all places have crimes committed but I was just making a statement about the CNN rating which doesn't look from the bottom up the small things that matter.

Let's see: They spotted the car and stopped it....so far no mention of computers etc. Then the trio were released? HOW COULD THEY BE RELEASED WHEN THEY WERE NOT DETAINED? Theywere arrested the next day? Why were they let go?
