Clarkstown Police Respond to Hit and Run in Nanuet

The Clarkstown Police Department released a report stating they responded to a hit and run on New Clarkstown Rd. and Smith St. in Nanuet on Monday June 30, 2014 at approximately 12:30 p.m.

According to the report, a female witness from West Haverstraw said a vehicle struck a parked car on New Clarkstown Rd. and fled the scene. The witness followed the vehicle to Smith St. until police arrived.

The driver of the vehicle that fled the scene, Stephen Pollak, 65, of Nanuet, was stopped by officers and placed under arrest. He was taken to the Clarkstown Police Headquarters and administered a sobriety test. Pollak was charged with D.W.I., a misdemeanor, aggravated D.W.I., a misdemeanor and leaving the scene of an accident. He was released and is due in court July 30, 2014.
