Clarkstown Police Report Scam

Scammers are targeting residents by telling them a family member has been arrested and needs bail money.

The Clarkstown Police Department is alerting the public today about a money scam.

The scammers are calling residents and telling them that a member of their family has been arrested. The caller then instructs the victim to contact an attorney and gives them the attorney’s name and phone number. When the victim calls the alleged attorney, they receive instructions to send prepaid money cards to pay for bail for the victim's relative.

The scam artists are also asking for money cards to pay for damages.
