A Danbury, CT, man has been charged with leaving the scene of an incident that results in death following an investigation into the death of a 24-year-old Orange County woman found in a roadway off Route 9W on Sunday, according to State Police based in Orange County.
Baruch M. Emmanuel, a.k.a. Baruch Medina, 29, of 40 Division St., Danbury, is being held in the Orange County Jail in Middletown on $200,000 bail in connection with the death of Veronica Gutierrez, 24, of 9 Lakes Road, Monroe. On Sunday at 6:03 a.m., Gutierrez was discovered in the roadway at the Quaker Avenue exit ramp off Route 9W South in the Town of Cornwall.
At his arraignment in Town of Wallkill Court, Emmanuel was also charged with third-degree bail jumping in connection with a prior DWI arrest in the Town of Goshen in 2011.
The State Police were assisted by the Town of Cornwall Police Department, the Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Orange County District Attorney’s Office. The investigation is continuing.
