UPDATE-One Lane Open, Police Still on Scene of Fatal Crash

State police identified the man who died in this morning's fatal accident on the New York State Thruway as Mark Becker, 53, of Hillsdale, NJ.  

As of 3:51 p.m., the left lane was open at the accident scene and the right lane remained closed. "All previous detours have been removed and exit 16 is open to north bound traffic," police said.

Six other people were injured in the crash however none of the injuries are life threatening, police said.

The State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit was on the scene along with the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation.

One person died and six were injured in a multi-vehicle accident near the Woodbury tolls, according to News12.

Four passenger cars, two trucks and a NY State Thruway plow truck were all involved in the crash on the northbound side of I-87.

State police at 11:36 a.m. reported:

State Police are currently investigating a serious injury accident involving multiple vehicles on I-87 North at mile marker 48.8 in the Town of Woodbury, Orange County.  

All north bound lanes are closed at that location. State Police and the New York State Thruway Authority are diverting all north bound traffic off at exit 16. Motorists are advised to take Route 32 North, to Route 300 North, to Route 17K East, and follow 17K East to re-enter I-87 at exit 17 interchange.
