Driver Escapes Injury in South Mountain Road Crash

SUV overturns, lands in home's front yard in northern New City.

South Mountain Road in northern New City was closed for a short time Thursday afternoon when an SUV overturned and crashed onto the front lawn of a private home.

Clarkstown police and volunteers of the New City Fire Department said that despite the roll-over, no one was injured in the wreck and the driver was able to get out of the car on his own.

The Hyundai Santa Fe hit a guard rail and a fence, landing upside down on a lawn. A tow truck was called in to pull the wreck out of the yard.
