Hit-and-Run Arrests: Clarkstown Police

May 1: At 11:50 PM, the Clarkstown Police Department responded to Lake Road and North Conger Avenue in Congers for a report of a motor vehicle accident.

A witness stated that a vehicle struck a parked car on Lake Road and drove away. The witness followed the vehicle until police arrived.

The driver of the vehicle that fled, a 31-year-old Congers resident, was interviewed. Police said she appeared to be intoxicated but was not injured.

She was placed under arrest and transported to Clarkstown Police Headquarters. She was charged with DWI (misdemeanor) and leaving the scene of an accident, property damage only (traffic infraction).

She was arraigned in Clarkstown Justice Court and released to return to court May 28.

April 27: The Clarkstown Police Department arrested a 49-year-old Nanuet resident for leaving the scene of an accident with injuries. 

The accident occurred at 10:10 a.m. April 27 at the intersection of South Little Tor Road and Glenwood Drive in New City. The bicyclist is a 45-year-old New Jersey man who was taken by New City Ambulance to Nyack Hospital.

A witness to the incident followed the vehicle that had struck the bicyclist while calling the Clarkstown Police Department. The responding officers stopped the driver on North Main Street in New City and arrested him without further incident.

He was cited for leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury 1st
offense (misdemeanor).

The Rockland Times interviewed the victim and other bicyclists who were in the group that morning. 

As the driver tried to speed away, "bicyclists were screaming “get him, get him,” a witness told the rocklandtimes.com.
