Injured Hiker Rescued After Hook Mountain Fall

A 72-year-old hiker from New Jersey was rescued after a 50 to 70 foot fall down Hook Mountain on Friday afternoon. The unidentified man suffered non-life threatening injuries including a broken arm and bruises on his head and was taken to Nyack Hospital.

Clarkstown Police Sgt. Donnary said the 9-1-1 call came in around 4 p.m. from another hiker who heard the injured man yelling for help. The Nyack Fire Department and its Search And Rescue Team, Nyack Ambulance, New York State Police and Clarkstown police responded to the area near Route 9W and Badi Lane in Upper Nyack. Sgt. Donnary said the rescue effort took about an hour and a half.
