Nanuet FD Quickly Puts Out House Fire (VIDEO)

There were no injuries as no one was in the residence

At 11:50 p.m. on Monday night, Nanuet Fire Department battled a fire on Terrace Avenue in Nanuet.

"The guys did a hell of a job and knocked down that fire in 15 minutes. They did an outstanding job," said Fire Chief AJ Knapp. "The fire started in the back of the house and we got to it before it spread to the attic."

The cause of the fire is still being investigated by Clarkstown Fire Inspector Harold Straut. Pearl River and Spring Valley fire departments assisted and South Spring Valley FD were on call at the Nanuet fire house.

Nanuet EMS and Rockland Paramedics were also on scene. There were no injuries as no one was in the residence.

The back of the house including the walls, part of the roof and back patio sustained the most damage.

Another great job done by a great bunch! How comforting it is to know they're always there, just like our Ambulance volunteers! Thank you all.

My husband and I would like to sincerely thank with all of our heart the Fire Department and all the volunteers that showed up last night. This was truly a horrific event but we definitely felt the support. You are appreciated, and now more than ever we look forward to residing in Nanuet, NY. Thanks again and wishing you guys many blessings. Virginia
