New City Firefighters Celebrate New Fire Truck

Volunteers welcome firefighters from throughout Rockland

The volunteer members of the New City Fire Department tonight play host to fellow volunteers from throughout Rockland County who will join them to help dedicate New City's new fire truck.

The new tanker truck arrived earlier this year to replace an aging fire tanker. Tonight's celebration is a "wetdown," a firehouse tradition in which a new piece of firefighting equipment gets sprayed down in a kind of baptism ceremony.

The celebration begins at 6 p.m. at New City's firehouse on Maple Avenue, right across the street from Clarkstown Town Hall.
