New City Man Arrested On Burglary And Robbery Charges

Clarkstown Police arrested James O’Sullivan, 36, of New City on burglary and robbery charges on Monday afternoon after he allegedly attempted to rob a New Valley Road resident.

“O’Sullivan is accused of entering an occupied dwelling on New Valley Road in New City, and going into the master bedroom,” said Sgt. Jo Anne Fratianni.  “The homeowner, a 53-year-old female, who was home alone, confronted O’Sullivan who in turn pushed her.”

O’Sullivan allegedly pulled jewelry off her neck and wrist and fled the house. He was arrested by police as he tried to enter a taxi. The female victim suffered minor injuries but refused to go to the hospital.

O’Sullivan was charged with burglary first degree, burglary second degree, robbery second degree and criminal possession of stolen property third degree, all felonies and possession of a hypodermic instrument (misdemeanor).  He was arraigned in Clarkstown Justice Court and sent to the Rockland County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail. O’Sullivan is due back in court on January 18th.
