No Charges Filed In Monday's Stabbing At Palisades Center

Police report taxi driver stabbed two men after argument.

Clarkstown Police report no charges are being filed in connection with Monday morning's stabbing of two men. Police say the stabbing resulted from a dispute between a taxi driver and three passengers at 1:40 a.m. near the Palisades Center bus stop. The argument began when the taxi driver identified as Ondre Wisdom, 34, of Stony Point, insisted on payment upfront.

All four people involved got out of the taxi and police report Ondre used a pocketknife to stab Gilberto Ramos, 22, of Nanuet and Jaieem Webb, 22, of Spring Valley. Ramos and Webb were injured and taken to the hospital. The injuries were non-life threatening. Wisdom was not injured. There is no report of any injury to the third passenger, Corey Major, 36, from Spring Valley.

Police report no charges are being filed following their investigation and consultation with the Rockland County District Attorney’s office. None of the men involved want to file charges.

I'm at a loss for words about this. How in the world can these guys get away with acting like we live in the Old West.
I follow laws, and respect others, why can't they do the same. I assume they feel they're above the law and can do whatever they want with impunity. No arrests send a clear message to people like this letting them know they can call the shots.

I'm fairly certain there's more to this story then we know.

Bruce, the man obviously felt threatned, and/or probobly was.not that he deserves a medal, but it would be a better world if, more people, like him refused to become victims
Mark Neumann December 11, 2012 at 08:42 pm
Robin - this sounds like there was an argument between driver and passengers prior to the cab ride ("payment up front"". If true why were there no charges against the driver - unless some important info is missing?
Robin Traum (Editor) December 11, 2012 at 08:48 pm
Mark - That is the information provided by the police. Robin

GANGBANGERS !!!
John Taggart December 11, 2012 at 11:15 pm
He defended himself....that is not a crime. The driver stopped the crime by DEFENDING himself
John Taggart December 11, 2012 at 11:23 pm
Depending on your neighborhood, and the time of day, anywhere can be like the old west....even your house Bruce, if your broken into while home.
When seconds count the police are just minuts away, and the police obviously sided with the cabby....good work cab driver

Ondre Wisdom --Your my hero...Great job....We need more people like you..
.Harry Callahan (Clint Eastwood) ....."Go ahead, make my day, Too bad he did not have a .44 Magnum revolver ....The world would be a better place if we had more people like Ondre

Well, I definitely owe some people major apologies. As I usually do, My mouth was engaged before my brain. I missed the point of the story entirely.
The cab driver probably was defending himself and had every right to do what he did. Unfortunately, he didn't damage them more. I would have. And that's why I no longer go to the Palisades Mall. Sorry for the screw-up.
Mark Neumann December 12, 2012 at 01:03 am
Thanks Robin - but it seems something is missing. FYI I was a cab driver many years ago (not that it matters) but....

Two comments.....it most other communties this would be considered a crime and people would be arrested.....I wonder if those involved were not named Gilberto Ramos, of Nanuet and Jaieem Webb, of Spring Valley but instead Sean Kelly of New City and Sam Goldstein of West Nyack if arrests would have been made? And second, I now know why Clarkstown ranks in the top 10 of safe cities in the USA.....just don't make arrests and report the crimes.
Tony T December 12, 2012 at 09:39 am
Bruce, I am not sure where you live but yes a person does have a right to defend themselves but not the right to stab someone......that is why we havethe Police, DA and Courts so this type of action is adjudicated by the proper authorities and does not occur in a civil society. I hope this is not the future of how crime will be handled in Clarkstown?

Aerial of United Water's proposed water treatment plant
Tom Nimick June 11, 2013 at 09:23 pm
Mr. Pointing says that an issues conference is unusual. The unusual step is called for because thisRead More project is highly unusual; it is unprecedented. This French-owned water company wants to implement its pet technology at our expense - it makes sense for the company because the project makes lots of money. There is information available that calls into question the "definitive" studies carried out by the water company. Of course they found that their technology was the best option - what a surprise! They have not made the case that they carried out a disinterested examination of the issues in the public interest. Yes there are still issues. Also, stop threatening us with increased costs from delay. First, it does not make sense and second, you are trying to bully us into accepting your proposal. That is one more sign that something is wrong in your proposal.
John Taggart June 13, 2013 at 08:08 am
An issues conference will be a wast of time and money. So many ' issues ' have been pulled out ofRead More thin air. The people who organized against the plant will just keep saying the same thing. No amount of info will be enough, no answer will be accepted. The issues conference will be a circus of endless questions, ideas, and demands. Haverstraw bay reclassified as drinking water will better protect it, provide an endless supply of water and finally help end the stereotype of the Hudson being polluted Recommend

There were no open meetings. I attended the April meeting and Mr. Lettre was directed by the TownRead More Board to return with more precise estimates and to include options for other upgrades. I have attended every meeting of the Town Board since that time and Mr. Lettre never returned in an open meeting. Mr. Borelli indicated that Mr. Lettre had addressed his concerns directly and privately. According to the Open Meetings Law, the deliberations of the Town Board are to be open and visible to the public. Private individual meetings or communications with members of the Town Board so as to avoid open deliberations flouts the intent of the Open Meetings Law. Mr. Gromack's statement of other meetings is inaccurate and, since it was specifically in response to a question about open meetings, dishonest. Mr. Borelli, shame on you for accepting a private communication and not standing by your guidance to Mr. Lettre that he was to come back to an open meeting of the Town Board.

Thanks for sharing, Grace! Your thoughts on their noise?
Grace Anthony Zemsky June 10, 2013 at 09:00 am
The traffic from the nearby Palisades Parkway is more of a noise nuisance than the cicada chorus.Read More (We have triple-paned windows because of it.) There is something almost musical about the hum of the cicadas. Of course, it may bother me more if I lived in the "affected area" and heard it constantly. Upon entering this nearby neighborhood, the sound crescendos. And yet, it can't be heard a couple of streets away. The drone of locusts is more bothersome than these 17 year cicadas.
