Perfect Parade Day

Enthusiastic spectators and brilliant blue skies welcomed marchers in the 101st Annual Rockland County Volunteer Fireman’s Association Parade today.

Families and friends staked out viewing spots along South Little Tor Road before the parade led by the Budweiser Clydesdales kicked off. The team of highly recognizable horses led more than 30 fire companies from throughout Rockland County as well as Orange County and New Jersey.  Cheers, waves and applause greeted the volunteers in dress uniforms, antique and state of the art fire trucks and bands along the approximately two-mile long route.

Youngsters marched in place to the music of the brass bands and the bagpipers. People relaxed in beach chairs or on blankets as they watched the parade pass. New City Fire Co. #1 hosted the parade as part of its 125th anniversary celebration.
